AllMusic Review by

Cocco's last album before her early retirement continues in the vein of hard rock interspersed with soft, introspective ballads. It works much better than 2000's Rapunzel, with plenty of sweet melodies playing against the wall of grunge thrown up in tracks like "Yakenogahara" and "Wagamama Na Te." But, then again, there's the mandolin-led "Utahime" and the Go-Gos-like "Dream's a Dream," further stretching her range and sound. But for the quintessential Cocco sound, try "Hane -- Lay Down My Arms," a grandiose production involving swirling strings and guitar, over which Cocco tries to reach the heavens with her voice. As a career-ending statement, it shows none of the weariness or lack of ideas that plague such albums -- this may not be the last we hear of Cocco.
