AllMusic Review by

The second of two French RCA LPs that document pianist Oscar Peterson's early years in his native Canada, this set features Peterson (from the ages of 22 to 24) gradually developing his sound, evolving from being a boogie-woogie flavored swing player ("Oscar's Boogie" is a strong example) into developing his own recognizable style. In addition to the boogie, Peterson is heard on 15 standards with trios comprised of local jazzmen. Both of the RCA volumes in this very valuable series are quite historic.
