Madacy's confusingly titled Rock On: Breakout Years series reaches Luther Vandross. The packaging notes 1986 as the singer's breakout year; while that was the year Vandross scored his first Top 20 Hot 100 single, it's not as if he suddenly crossed into the mainstream; a few of his albums had already reached the same level on the Billboard 200 albums chart. This disc contains some of the singer's biggest hits, but it's a rather arbitrary selection, like most other budget releases. "The Glow of Love" (with Change), "Never Too Much," "Give Me the Reason," "Stop to Love," and "The Rush" are among the bigger hits here.
