AllMusic Review by

Rock N Roll Diner plays out like a set on your favorite oldies radio station, with original versions of nearly two dozen relics from the dawn of the rock & roll era. Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire" kicks it off, followed by Little Richard, the Everly Brothers, the Champs with Tequila," and Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight." The big hits dry out after a while -- it has Roy Orbison's "Ooby Dooby" instead of "Pretty Woman," for example, and lesser-known songs like the "Ubangi Stomp" and Billy Lee Riley's "Red Hot." However, those are strong songs too, even if they don't resonate as much as the perennials on Rock N Roll Diner, meaning that it's a solid set pretty much all the way through. Plenty of these songs are available on other compilations, but this one will do just fine in a pinch.
