Recorded in concert at Castle Ronenberg in Germany in September, 1998, trumpeter and flügelhornist Clark Terry shows no signs of slowing down. Leading a sextet that includes the talented young alto saxophonist Dave Glasser and a group of Europeans who are all obviously veteran players but not that well known outside of their continent, Terry gives plenty of space to his bandmates while still launching into the rich, fat-toned solos that are so easily recognized. An extended treatment of "Body and Soul" features tenor saxophonist Gustl Mayer to advantage, while the rousing "Perdido" clearly stimulates the band to its greatest heights. Even though this can't quite be considered an essential purchase, fans of the great Clark Terry won't be disappointed with it.
