This compilation completes U.K. label Edsel's two-for-one reissue series of Randy Crawford's first ten solo albums. Rich and Poor (1989) and Through the Eyes of Love (1992), like the eight releases that preceded them, were originally issued on Warner Bros., but unlike much of her earlier output, neither one received a physical reissue between the initial release dates and Edsel's pairing here. During the late '80s and early '90s, the singer was out of step with the prevailing trends in contemporary R&B; more than before, she appealed most to jazz fans, who helped place both albums near the top of Billboard's Jazz Albums chart. In 2011, these albums were issued separately as digital downloads, but serious fans should seek these sets for the packaging and thoughtful liner notes.
