AllMusic Review by

Time Life's Rhythm & Grooves: Groove Is in the Heart is a dance-pop compilation with an emphasis on the '80s and the early '90s, though disco hits from years prior -- the Village People's "Y.M.C.A.," Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," Chic's "Le Freak" -- are somewhat tacked on near the end. From the era of focus, there's Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart," Naughty by Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray," En Vogue's "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)," Paula Abdul's "Straight Up," Culture Club's "Karma Chameleon," and Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative." This disc only appeals to people who either own five CDs or need several of these songs in an emergency situation. It's far too random to function on any other level.
