AllMusic Review by

With a package and sleeve notes cleverly strewn together to resemble a sci-fi horror soundtrack (and, hey, in some ways, it is!), Revenge of Camper Van Chadbourne captures the lovably eccentric Dr. Eugene Chadbourne reunited with his trusty assistants, former Camper Van Beethoven bandmates Victor Krummenacher and Jonathan Segel, during one night in 1999 at New York's venerable Knitting Factory. A fine noisemaker whose music falls somewhere between improvisational hillbilly folk, primitive rock, and novelty, Chadbourne doesn't disappoint with his skewed melodies, encapsulated in song titles like "Old Piano," "Dorothy Helms Stops By," and "I Hate Myself (For Falling in Love With You)."
