As contemporary Jamaican dancehall drifts closer and closer to being an international and commercial force, a sort of exotic older cousin to urban hip hop, one might expect a kind of dilution to take place, but as this energetic dance set shows, fresh Jamaican dancehall remains, well, overwhelmingly Jamaican. Highlights in this brisk, blustery set include Mr. Easy's down home (there's even an accordion!) dancehall delight "Feel Alright," Beenie Man's odd and at times deliberately disorienting "Who Am I," and Demon's "Riddim in the Park." Also included here is a six-song "power mix" set from DJ Spence Diamonds. Geared for the dancefloor, Reggae Mix, Vol. 3 is all about getting your feet moving, and while not exactly high art, it isn't exactly a throwaway listen, either.
