Every Acid Mothers Temple record is a mixture of avant-tinged psychedelic noise and music inspired by hard rock from the 1970s, each one a bracing, mind-altering ride. Yet RECURRING DREAMS & APOCALYPSE OF DARKNESS goes heavier and harder still. The album consists of only two cuts, “Eternal Incantation or Perpetual Nightmare” and the title track, both of which exceed the 35-minute mark, and are filled with guitarist/bandleader Makoto Kawabata-patented effects-drenched six-string freak-outs. Assume the “lights-out, headphones-on” position.
