RCA Victor Records followed up Eartha Kitt's chart single "C'est Si Bon" with this eight-song, 10" debut LP, which includes the hit along with tracks sung in Spanish, Turkish, Swahili, and, oh yes, English. The exotic singer, a native of Columbia, SC, convincingly played the part of an international vamp, as she did in her big break as a member of the cast of the Broadway musical revue New Faces of 1952. There was a novelty quality to her persona and the songs chosen to explore it, appropriate to a nightclub act, if somewhat arch on disc. Nevertheless, Kitt was a strong vocalist with a distinct style, which served her well on further recordings and personal appearances.
