AllMusic Review by

Released by K-Tel, Rap Attack is a brief budget-priced compilation that includes ten hip-hop favorites from the cusp of the '90s. There were so many great singles from this period that a definitive one-disc overview would be impossible. As far as this disc is considered, the selection is pretty random, but that doesn't mean the quality suffers too much for it. K-Tel uses radio edits and tracks that didn't have any profane language to begin with. Included here are Nice & Smooth's "Funky for You," Public Enemy's "Fight the Power," LL Cool J's "Jingling Baby," Sir Mix-a-Lot's "My Hooptie," Chill Rob G.'s "The Power," and X-Clan's "Raise the Flag." Just about everything here should be recognizable to someone who paid casual attention to the hip-hop scene during the late '80s. Most have aged rather well.
