With the exception of a version of "On the Sunny Side of the Street" that had come out earlier on a collector's LP, all of the music on this 1996 CD was previously unreleased. Pianist Ralph Sutton's wife Sunnie ran a club in Aspen, Colorado during the latter half of the 1960s called Sunnie's Rendezvous, which often featured small hot jazz groups. This set features the great stride pianist Ralph Sutton with the equally talented cornetist Ruby Braff, bassist Milt Hinton and drummer Mousie Alexander. They perform a dozen jazz standards, all of which were at least 30 years old at the time. The fresh variations give such tunes as "Rosetta," "Limehouse Blues," "Liza" and "Shine" fiery solos and exciting ensembles that make this a set easily recommended to fans of these masterful players.
