The Cash Brothers are Andrew and Peter, and they're in the strange position of being a Canadian alt-country supergroup while at the same time most people can't place either of them. Andrew Cash released a string of widely released but mostly ignored solo albums for Island and Universal Canada, while brother Peter Cash was more anonymous as a member of acclaimed group The Skydiggers. With Raceway, they teamed up to create an album that's more accessible than either brother's past work, one that is unlikely to get a very wide audience because of its release on an indie label. It's a shame, because it is every bit as good as much of the material that clogged up the alt-country world at around the same time, if not better. Many of the songs are filled with melodic hooks that stick with you, and you may find yourself humming them later on in the day.
