Sweden's Rosenberg 7 was founded by singer Susanne Rosenberg when she heard traditional singing from her homeland for the first time; on her group's album R7, she reaffirms why she is one of the leading vocalists in the Swedish scene. Rosenberg leads the group's four singers in contemporary, four-part vocal arrangements that integrate indigenous singing styles like kulning (cattle calling) while fiddle, viola and cello provide accompaniment. As evidenced by R7, the results are sometimes ethereal, sometimes traditional, but always powerful and compelling.
