AllMusic Review by

The Quinteto Violado quintet has been part of Brazil's music history for 30 years. From northeastern extraction, their sound is profoundly influenced by the folkloric music of that region, even if they don't dismiss contemporary technology of synthesizers and the like (though performed in a purely Brazilian way), which coexist with acoustic flutes, violas, double-bass, and percussion. The album is dedicated to the important composer Geraldo Vandré, also a northeastern, and his strong melodies, being filled with some of Vandré's biggest hits. In spite of the group's strong musical capabilities, there is little room for purely instrumental performances, vocal delivery being the focus here. The booklet has all lyrics.
