Post Office's style of super-jangly and purposefully cute, Midwestern indie-pop deserves credit for being unassuming and frequently charming, but the songs on Public Displays of Affection simply aren't written well enough to make the album notable. The record may appeal to unswerving adherents of this twee indie sound, since the band is stylistically adept with it -- but the lack of substance or invention in the construction of the tracks themselves is hard to get past.
