AllMusic Review by

Dino's Precious (Underground) collection gathers the early '90s alternative music that defined the genre and dominated college radio before grunge replaced it. Prime examples of baggy, dream pop, Brit-pop, punk-pop, and other subgenres of alternative can be found on this sampler, which includes period pieces like Jesus Jones' "Real Real Real," Inspiral Carpets' "Dragging Me Down," and Daisy Chainsaw's "Love Your Money," as well as Brit-pop harbingers like Suede's "Drowners" and Blur's "There's No Other Way." Best of all, Precious (Underground) includes some truly great alterna-pop singles, including the Pixies' "Planet of Sound," Lush's "For Love," the Sugarcubes' "Hit," My Bloody Valentine's "Soon," and Ride's "Twisterella." Baggy favorites like the Charlatans' "Weirdo," the Stone Roses' ubiquitous "Fool's Gold," and Primal Scream's "Loaded" are some of the sampler's other highlights. A fun, nostalgia-inspiring collection.
