Remember that white trash kid in high school who listened to Southern rock and some metal? You know, the one whose entire wardrobe consisted of Metallica and Pantera t-shirts? Remember when he found out about punk rock somewhere around his sophomore year? Well, Scissorfight is a band consisting of a bunch of those guys. Of course, they also have a fair amount of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hendrix influences, too, not to mention the typical sound one might expect to find on Tortuga or Hydra Head. The blues aspect is pretty heavy-handed and the guitar work is quite solid, with much of it trudging along in a greasy, low-down manner. With only five songs, Potential New Agent For Unconventional Warfare is over way too quickly, and some more material would've been ideal, but what's here isn't too bad. While not entirely what one might expect from something on Tortuga, it's nonetheless quality blues-rock with a heavy metal edge.
