Led as usual by their soaring brass section and the irresistible, punchy arrangements of Killo Torres, Banda San Miguel equalled their best recordings of the '90s with 2001's Por Eso Vuelvo Otra Vez. Each song on the set (especially the first five) benefits from the surprisingly radical skills of Torres, who arranges fierce battles between the brass and wind sections which often threaten to overwhelm the rhythm and songs. Fortunately, Banda San Miguel's vocalists are just as strong as the musicians, and use the music as a launch pad. The sixth song, the title track, is an intentionally messy run through a traditional banda form, with hilarious results. Energetic and infectious on a level that includes few Latin bandas ever formed, Banda San Miguel's Por Eso Vuelvo Otra Vez is another triumph.
