AllMusic Review by

Drummer Shelly Manne, who first started the trend of jazz musicians recording scores from plays with My Fair Lady in 1956, 20 years later failed to hit pay dirt with his interpretations of eight forgettable songs from Richard Rodgers's Broadway musical Rex. There are some good solos from his sidemen (which include Lew Tabackin on tenor and flute, keyboardist Mike Wofford and bassist Chuck Domanico), but in general, this is a so-so effort with the musicians being defeated by the material.
