Part of the beauty of the contemporary urban music scene is the street-level, word-of-mouth process that allows artists like Methrone on completely independent labels to achieve mainstream success. As he's shown on his previous work, Methrone is no novice forced down the public's throat by a hefty record company budget. Rather, he's a multi-talented singer/songwriter/musician/producer bent on making his mark. Musically and lyrically, Methrone is on a par with such mack daddy R&B predecessors as R. Kelly and Keith Sweat; a pure, unadulterated Love Man who makes no bones (pun not intended) about his sexual prowess. Fortunately, the voice that trumpets said prowess is a soft croon, not a strident shout. The tracks Methrone creates to frame his vocals are equally subtle and seductive, riding on a bed of sensual rhythms and lush keyboards. Throughout PICTURE ME, Methrone eschews double entendre, leaving little to the imagination on such songs as "Sexin' Me" and "Freak 4 U."
