One of Wakeman's more ridiculous efforts, this is the soundtrack for a re-release of the 1925 film version of Phantom of the Opera. The music varies widely in style, "from operatic rock to tearful ballads" (as the liner notes put it), featuring singers Ashley Holt, Chrissie Hammond, and Ramon Remedios. The theatricality of the rock songs is just over the top, and there's a dearth of good lyrics and interesting keyboard playing. It must have been an odd experience watching a black-and-white film while listening to this.
