AllMusic Review by

Teaming together trumpeter Buck Clayton with clarinetist Pee Wee Russell in 1960 was a logical move. Both of these individual stylists had been stuck often in Dixieland settings in the 1950s, yet they were really highly distinctive swing soloists, Joined by a modern rhythm section led by pianist Tommy Flanagan, Clayton and Russell are in top form on six fine standards, making one wish that they had teamed up in this type of setting more often.
