AllMusic Review by

This two-disc, 36-track set covers the glory years of the Tommy Dorsey big band, which were during the 1930s and '40s. Dorsey hired as a vocalist one of the biggest stars of perhaps all time: Frank Sinatra. He is featured here with vocals on eight tracks. Dorsey also hired a female singer who is about as obscure as they come: Edythe Wright. She is spotlighted on six tracks. Other singers who are featured are the wonderful Jo Stafford, trumpeter Charlie Shavers, Sy Oliver, Jack Leonard, and the Sentimentalists. Fourteen tracks have no vocalists and feature the Dorsey band tearing it up. This disc is a nice document of a great band.
