Just like the U.K, the U.S., and several other territories, Canada has its own Now series dedicated to summarizing a few months' worth of hit singles with each volume. This ninth volume, released through Universal in 2004, contains an assortment of songs that isn't much different from the 16th or 17th volumes of the U.S. series (released around the same time, covering roughly the same stretch). It does lean a little heavier on rock than the U.S. compilations, with Simple Plan, Nickelback, blink-182, Hoobastank, Michelle Branch, the Vines, Jet, and Barenaked Ladies contributing. Janet Jackson, Norah Jones, D12, and the Black Eyed Peas round out most of the rap and R&B choices.
