Sound explorer Christina Kubisch has been working at the margins of modern composition, multi-media performance, and sound-art since the early ‘70s. Under documented for much of her career, there are few extant examples of her work during the mid-‘80s, a particularly fertile period of creativity for her. NIGHT FLIGHTS is a reissue of a long out-of-print 1987 album, recorded during a residency in Milan, Italy. Utilizing all manner of compositional strategies, experimental recording techniques, and homemade electronics, the music is an effusive blend of rigorous compositional logic and inspired improvisation--at times recalling the multi-disciplinary theatrics of composer Robert Ashley.
