Despite the wide array of natural environments that have been recorded in recent years, the sound of the ocean continues to exert a special magic. Nature Recordings' very first release, The Sea, is a perennial favorite with its crashing waves and crying gulls, but Ocean Moods presents a gentler aspect of the sea. Waves are heard softly breaking on a beach, passing across the stereo field, and gradually trailing away, taking with them the cares of the day. The first half presents the Pacific Ocean recorded on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, while the second half captures the Atlantic off the Florida coast. Peaceful and soothing, this digital recording is an ideal aid to relaxation or a natural antidote to insomnia.
