Although it starts out with a raw blast of punked up soul that's barely longer than a minute, My Love Is Bold shows growth: notably, an additional ten minutes of music, bringing this one to a length of 20 minutes. It's still loud and snotty, but the playing is tighter, production is better, and lyrics are amusingly infantile instead of just plain dirty. In fact, "The Mango Kid" almost sounds like it could be a hit single...somewhere. It's still got plenty of swagger and shake, and even a more sedate number like "If I Were You" isn't enough to derail the mini-album's energy. Fun.
