The virtuoso electric bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma performs eight selections on his third Gramavision release in six different settings. The use of electronics by his sidemen is sometimes quite dominant and weakens the music a bit, making much of it sound both dense and dated. Some of the selections are intriguing, particularly singer Leon Thomas on an odd remake of "The Creator Has a Master Plan." Among the many obscure sidemen are the fiery fusion guitarist Kazumi Watanabe, percussionist Jerry Gonzalez (unfortunately only on one song) and Odean Pope on soprano and oboe. The overall results are interesting but not all that memorable.
