AllMusic Review by

This has nothing to do with Motown's 25th anniversary celebration, held in 1983 and televised nationally -- where Michael Jackson helped popularize the moonwalk. Instead, the 25 refers to the number of tracks on this compilation, released in 2013 and sold exclusively at Starbucks locations. It's heavy on mid-'60s singles but extends to 1971 for Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." The selections, including major hits from the likes of Stevie Wonder ("For Once in My Life"), Smokey Robinson & the Miracles ("You've Really Got a Hold on Me"), the Supremes ("Come See About Me"), the Temptations ("My Girl"), and the Four Tops ("Baby I Need Your Loving"), make for a decent introduction to the biggest pop-soul label.
