Eddy Arnold made only a handful of recordings that could be characterized as rock & roll, and one of them is "Little Bit" from his 1960 album More Eddy Arnold. A mild strain of pop/rock courses through the album, which stands out for its unusual production tone and strong, exclusive material. "Take Her for a Boat Ride" is another mild rocker, and "Just a Little Lovin'," a fun update of his 1948 hit, features a playful performance that exercises Arnold's entire vocal range. He sounds energized and engaged throughout the album, and a few cuts seem like they could have been successful singles. With material this good, it's astonishing that 1960 was a year without hits for Eddy Arnold.
