AllMusic Review by

This relatively obscure 12" contains one of the best singles from Dots and Loops and assortment of remixes of other material from the album. The "Single Mix" of "Miss Modular" is just a slightly edited version of the song. The Automator (aka Bay-area producer Dan Nakemura_ offers an ominous hip-hop mix of "Miss Modular" in line with his first solo EP, with samples of moaning monks and a tense, repeating piano riff. His dark approach clashes a bit with the sunny feel of the original, but still makes for an interesting listen. John Spencer Blues Explosion drummer Russell Simins gets ambitious with his version of "Rainbo Conversation," upping the rhythmic drive and increasing the clutter while staying true to the song's melody. Autechre completely deconstruct "Refractions in the Plastic Pulse," transforming the vocals to sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks singing into a vocoder and cutting the beats to ribbons. It's an Autechre track in the vein of LP5 with and eerie ghost of the Stereolab. Finally, Kid Loco adds a North African flavor to "Contronnatra," effectively transforming the track into exotic downtempo. Worth tracking down for DJs or collectors.
