AllMusic Review by

Like the sitcom itself, the soundtrack to Mad About You aims at an urban, upper-middle class audience, so the album is filled with staples of adult contemporary radio, like Marc Cohn, Faith Hill and Hootie & the Blowfish. There are also songs intended to give the album diversity and emotional weight, with contributions from Etta James, Sarah McLachlan and John Lennon, and, of course, the Paul Reiser-written title song is added for context. For some, this music may be a little too self-consciously "mature" for their tastes, but it sets a mellow mood early on and keeps it for the course of the album.
