AllMusic Review by

Lowrider Oldies, Vol. 1-9: Cruisin' Chrome Series features a multitude of classic soul and R&B recordings that are intended to inspire memories of long-past days of cruising down the strip. Some of the featured performers include Mary Wells ("The One Who Really Loves You"), Aaron Neville ("Tell It Like It Is"), Delfonics ("La La Means I Love You"), the Dells ("Oh What a Night"), and Gene Chandler ("Duke of Earl"), in addition to countless others spread across these nine volumes. And though the majority of these recordings come from the '60s, there are a few '70s songs here as well, such as Kool & the Gang's "Ladies Night" and the Love Unlimited Orchestra's "I Belong to You." This multi-volume set is also available individually for those who don't want to make such a large investment.
