AllMusic Review by

Time Life's Love Songs does a fine job of collecting a solid batch of 36 love songs from a variety of sources: '70s soft rock, new wave, quiet storm, arena rock, smooth soul. Not a single chancer in the bunch, every last song is carved into the brain of anyone who spent any time at all listening to the radio in the '70s and '80s. From smooth romance-kindlers like Al Green's "Still in Love With You" and Phoebe Snow's "Poetry Man," to bombastic bodice-rippers like Meat Loaf's "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," to sweet declarations of love like Minnie Riperton's "Loving You" and Paul Davis' "I Go Crazy," to surprisingly passionate come-ons like the Captain & Tennille's "Do That to Me One More Time" and the Pointer Sisters' "Slow Hand," there is also a very wide range of love songs tackled here. If you have a soft spot for sticky-sweet love songs and you like them as popular as can be, this could very well be the most-played disc in your collection.
