This CD reissue of a Louie Bellson big band recording that was originally out on the PYE label is surprisingly forgettable. The British big band (mostly a no-name outfit other than trumpeter Kenny Wheeler who has a short solo on "Limehouse Blues") is pretty anonymous, Bellson's six compositions (including his three-part "London Suite") are far from catchy and, other than the leader's drum solos, nothing significant or memorable takes place. There are many more interesting Louie Bellson recordings currently available.
