AllMusic Review by

Unlike Roky Erikson and Skip Spence--other notable American geniuses who struggled with mental issues--Daniel Johnston has always seemed extraordinarily playful. LOST AND FOUND, Johnston's seventh studio record in ten years, finds him channeling his muse into another resounding exercise in twisted innocence. "The Beatles" is a gushing love poem to his favorite band, and he heaps more adulation on his favorite celebrities with "Mrs. Daniel Johnston," a knowingly funny love poem to Marilyn Monroe. The entire album, produced by fellow Austin-ite Brian Beattie, conveys the longing and human ache that makes Johnston's best music so compelling.
