AllMusic Review by

This double-disc is an exact replication of the concert vocalist Beth Hart and guitarist Joe Bonamassa performed during a concert in Amsterdam in support of their studio album Seesaw, and provides a soundtrack to the video releases. What you hear is what was played; there are no overdubs or digital studio fixes. The pair are backed by a full horn section: drummer Anton Fig, bassist Carmine Rojas, rhythm guitarist Blondie Champlin, and keyboardist Arlan Schierbaum. They perform all but one track from the studio album -- "Sunday Kind of Love" -- add five more from their 2011 offering Don't Explain, and add other covers and a long band jam called "Antwerp" as a finale. Highlights include their reading of Delaney Bramlett's "Well, Well" and Ike Turner's "Nutbush City Limits," as well as "Chocolate Jesus," "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know," and, of course, Hart's excellent readings of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind" and Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit." Given the singer's considerable power -- the control she displays over her phrasing and range, and her ability to convey a wide palette of emotions -- this is no mere guitar geek's set, though there's plenty here for them, too.
