This short Shadows of Knight set was recorded live in Rockford, Illinois in 1972, by which time only lead singer Jimmy Sohns was left from the original band which took Van Morrison's "Gloria" into the Top Ten in 1966. If you subscribe to the theory that the '60s actually survived a couple of years into the 1970s, then this is a prime slice of 1960s garage punk. The Shadows only make a cursory run at "Gloria," unfortunately, but a wonderfully blistering guitar-laced extended version of Willie Dixon's "I Just Want to Make Love to You" more than makes up for it. Fans of the band and the era will find this set interesting, while casual listeners should probably stick to one of the career-spanning comps.
