This collectors' LP contains 16 of the 28 Decca recordings made by the somewhat forgotten Roy Eldridge big band of the mid-'40s. The trumpeter was in peak form during the era yet this exciting series of performances has yet to be reissued complete and in chronological order. Many of the selections have been since appeared on CD but not all of them. Eldridge is generally the whole show and his versions of "Rockin' Chair," "Body and Soul," "Twilight Time," "After You've Gone" and "The Gasser"'are among the many memorable highlights of this fine LP.
