It isn’t difficult to conjure the visuals for Jim Jarmusch’s LIMITS OF CONTROL after listening to its soundtrack. There’s obviously a slow-moving surrealness, a purposeful quality to its characters’ actions, an alternating sense of dread and wonder. Or so one would assume with such psych-noise offerings as Bad Rabbit’s “Sea Green Sea” and Boris’s dub-dirge monster, “Farewell,” as a guide. And there are other worthy selections here, capping off with the unlikely electro-funk of LCD Soundsystem’s “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House.” As with any soundtrack, it’s only half of a collective audio/visual vision, but LIMITS exceeds the ambition of most cinematic compilations.
