AllMusic Review by

When one thinks of Stan Kenton's music, humor is not the first word that comes to mind. But the innovative bandleader did record some humorous numbers through the years and 11 are included on this memorable LP. "The Hot Canary" (which features some ridiculous high-note trumpet from Maynard Ferguson) and "Blues in Burlesque" (a hilarious satire of rhythm & blues with a remarkable vocal by Shelly Manne) are classics of a sort but all of these performances stick in one's mind.
