AllMusic Review by

The natural yet unholy musical union of legends Conny Plank and Holger Czukay recorded under the name Les Vampyrettes and only produced one release. The self-titled 12” was released in 1980 and was issued by the Krautrock legends themselves. Limited to only a 1,000 copies, the EP was sought after by music aficionados and crate-diggers for over three decades. At the time, Czukay conveyed to Plank his desire to record special singles as “horror with comfort,” and the pair certainly succeeded. Both of the original songs featured on the EP (“Biomutanten” and “Menetekel”) are warped and incredibly dark post-industrial-sounding tracks. Their low wobble bass reverberates disturbingly well with the distorted Nosferatu-type vocals. With strange noises and screams ringing in the background, an aural frightfest is virtually guaranteed. This vinyl reissue from the excellent Gronland label also features the extra track “Witches Multiplication Table” (on the deluxe version only).
