AllMusic Review by

A compilation drawing cuts from Jacques Brel's 1962-1966 output is most notable for the inclusion of what were then the EP-only cuts -- "Zangra," "Rosa," and "Madeline" -- taken from 1962's Les Paumes du Petit Matin set. Other material is drawn from the singer's next three Barclay studio albums -- 1966's "Fernand" and the superbly ribald "La Chanson De Jacky" -- highlighting an otherwise basic selection. Of course, the set has since been superceded by the CD age.
