The debut by these Topanga Canyon youngsters introduced the world to an immensely talented singer named Inara George. The daughter of Little Feat founder Lowell George, Inara possesses a natural singer's voice, full of color and character with a clear command of dynamics and phrasing. Her voice resonates with the richness of Pheobe Snow and Joni Mitchell while her meandering melodies harken back to the days when Edie Brickell was with the New Bohemians. Her voice alone makes "Legs and Arms" more than a generic funky-rock album. While the music moves with funky grooves and interesting melodies, George soars her way through personal lyrics shrouded in artful, whimsical passages.
