AllMusic Review by

Documenting the time between 1948 and 1950 when the two great Cuban stars (who actually met in Mexico City) were working together, the Beny Moré and Pérez Prado edition of Legends of Cuban Music includes 22 of their songs, although, since this was relatively early in both of their careers, it is missing some of their more famous tracks. "Babaratiri" is on the album, however, as is "Tú Solo Tu," "Deja Que Suba la Marea," "Tocineta," and of course, "Pachito e Che." The music is bright, Prado's orchestra sounds great, Moré's voice is as clean and expressive as ever, and the beat is always moving, which makes the album a very nice addition to fans of either or both musicians, and a good introduction to mambo and Latin big band for those who are wanting to introduce themselves to it.
