Legacy - A Collection of New Folk Music. Although only a few of them managed to break through to national attention, a generation of important folk talents appeared during the 80s, playing clubs and festivals and recording for The Fast Folk Musical Magazine and self-financed records sold at gigs. In 1989, Windham Hill noticed and copied the Fast Folk formula, presenting some of the best -- David Massengill, Cliff Eberhardt, Bill Morrissey, John Gorka, and others -- on this 15-track disc and even signing a few of them to contracts. The result is a stunning showcase of talent that will shock anyone who thinks good folk music disappeared around 1970.
