AllMusic Review by

This early compilation (1984) has 14 tracks by soul preachers Maurice & Mac, five more than the excellent The Regal Theater Presents the Radiants offer. The ex-Radiants recreate themselves as Southern soul vendors with dramatic, soap opera-ish songs with no hint of Chicago soul or harmony. Maurice's biting tenor contrasts Mac's roughneck delivery as they swap lines like tag team wrestlers. The platter is labeled, the Chicago Side for A, and the Muscle Shoals Sides for B and showcases "You Left the Water Running" -- their sole hit -- along with "What Am I Going to Do," "Lay It on Me," "Baby You're the One" (up-tempo with a blasting horn arrangement), the immortal "Kick My Cat, I'll Beat Your Dog," and "Lean on Me." P-Vine doesn't offer this in CD format so if you don't have a turntable you're out of luck.
