After leaving Bob's Your Uncle, Sook-Yin Lee was probably most familiar to people as a host on video channel Muchmusic, but she also continued to pursue music as a solo artist. It's pretty easy to see why this music didn't become as familiar: it's often jarring and is a challenge to sit through if you've grown up on a diet of the music that gets played on video channels. Lee's voice is expressive and engaging as it was during the Bob's Your Uncle material, but the music is all over the map here, from a few noir-ish pieces to other bent pop numbers chock-full of unconventional instrumentation. It's interesting throughout, though the piece that will stay with you is the spoken-word track "Two Polaroids."
